Gatorball

Howzit

It has been a good week this week. Wednesday we had an MLC [Mission Leadership?] conference call. Always kinda fun, you get to hear little tidbits about stuff that’s been happening in the mission. So and so got hit by a car while cycling, a ZL knew an Elder in his zone had a thing for a girl in the ward he was serving and didn’t report it, and my favorite story of all: apparently Elder Nkosi got a knife pulled on him in Khayletsha by a guy trying to mug him. Elder Nkosi just like started talking to the guy and the guy decided he didn’t really want to rob him. Everyone likes Elder Nkosi.

We also got to hear about some of these changes that will be implemented with technology in the mission. We don’t really know when the changes will happen, it very well could happen after I go home, but it will be interesting. I do have some concerns about how the whole Facebook thing is going to work, that sounds kinda ripe for abuse. The only change that will be happening for us in the near future is that starting in August  we will get an hour once a week to do some stuff on mormon.org and lds.org, so that will be cool.

On Wednesday we also had a really nice lesson with Candice. She is really ready for baptism. She is also introducing her boy friend right now to the gospel and he sounds pretty interested (hopefully for the right reasons). She will be interviewed on Thursday and should be baptized the 21st. We are pretty excited about that as well.

Babalwa and Junior got confirmed on Sunday by there home teachers. The bishop and 1st counselor are both out of town (and the elders quorum president, and the ward mission leader, and the ward clerk...) and so its only the 2nd counselor, it was kinda funny, I walked up to him before church and told him they were getting confirmed today and he asked “Do we do that in Sacrament meeting?” Yes, we do.

On Friday I was on exchanges with Elder Myende which was a blast. He is a really funny guy, and can do impressions of people very well. We drove like 50 kilometers out of Port Elizabeth to teach a referral from a member. Her name is Analisa, she is the niece of a member who just moved really far out there, but her aunt lives with her and has a car. We had a nice lesson with her but then she flaked out on coming to church. I guess we will keep trying.

This week we do our exchanges with the APs on Thursday and then we have Zone Training and Interviews on Friday. We give like an hour and a half training and so most of our study time will be prepping for that.

Today for P-Day I am going to introduce the zone to gatorball.

Love you all!

-Elder Martin
